Experiments and Lab Activities

Part of what makes science fun are the experiments and activities that we can do while learning about the science in our world around us.  Here are some of the questions we investigate: Can you separate the hydrogen and oxygen in water?  How do the heaters (FRHs) in military MREs work?  What kind of chemical reaction creates "elephant toothpaste"?  How do airplanes fly and ships float when they weigh thousands of pounds?

We inquire, interpret, analyze and conclude.  We practice the "Scientific Method" and learn how it not only helps scientists make discoveries, but it also helps us make decisions every day.

Some of the activities and experiments that we do are from the textbook, but others are from the Internet.  One good website is Reeko's Mad Scientist Lab.  Just be careful to follow all safety rules if you try anything at home.

Will we go on field trips?

We want to go on field trips, but are in a wait-and-see mode right now.  If the budget allows it, we will do something.
