October Music Fun
October brings many opportunities to learn more about music while having fun.
First graders are adding sounds with rhythm instruments to their Halloween songs while they continue to learn about quarter notes, quarter rests, and eighth notes.
Second graders are finding half notes and whole notes in their songs as well as their dances.
Third and fourth graders love so many songs from their favorite movies. Right now they are learning the medley "Disney on Broadway."
"In the Hall of the Mountain King" has always been a favorite of children and Halloween is the perfect time to listen to this spooky sounding selection from Grieg's Peer Gynt suite. We have many different activities for this selection...movment as well as instrumental activities.
Our famous musician this month is the cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
The Music Express Magazine is full of interesting information, songs and musical activities that will enhance our regular classroom studies.
Finding time for all the great music activities for the month of October is going to be a challenge.
