My Background

I have been teaching since 2007. Before I came to Holmes I taught in Berwyn and at Lincoln School in Oak Park. I also worked as a teaching assistant in Oak Park for 6 years. Prior to that, I spent 9 years as a stay-at-home mom with my two children, and was an editor for a music publisher and two professional associations.  I have a bachelor's degree in Russian from Purdue University and a Master's degree in special education from Dominican University in River Forest.

My Favorites

Among my favorite things, aside from my family, are:

Musical Theater

I have loved musicals since I was in high school and have even performed in a couple. My children have both performed in lots of musical productions in their schools and my sister directs musicals at theaters in Wisconsin.  My favorite shows are "Sweeney Todd," "Sunday in the Park with George," and "Singing in the Rain."

Travel

I enjoy traveling and have been lucky enough to have visited some interesting places. My favorites are Alaska, Hawaii, Paris, New Mexico, and the Nebraska Sandhills.

Pottery

I really like pottery, especially Native American pottery.  I took a wheel-throwing class once and discovered that I have no talent for making pottery, but I love looking at pottery made by others.  One of my favorite potters is Juan Quezada from Mata Ortiz, Mexico.
