This course is designed to offer additional English language practice for elementary students who are learning English as a second language. There is an emphasis on reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening. Students are encouraged to speak only in English.
The class meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 2:20 - 3:05.
Students will work on spelling, vocabulary, taking dictation, and more . The students will read and discuss novels, including Stone Fox by R. Gardiner, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by E. Coerr, A Lion to Guard Us, by C. R. Bulla, and Chocolate Fever by R.K. Smith. Time will be provided for academic help and study hall.
The student's grade will be based on participation (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension of English) and behavior.
