American History

During the first quarter of the year, students will investigate the differenct theories of when and how early people migrated to North and South America. Next, they will do independent research about a self-selected Native American tribe. Then, they will look at the arrival at Europeans: why they came, why they stayed, and the impact of European civilization on the native people. They will also study what the Europeans learned from the native people and brought back to Europe. Cross-Subject Connections: Students will read A Lion to Gurard Us by Clyde Robert Bulla in Language Arts, and will perform the story in their drama class during the second quarter.
