English Skills 6/7
Students will continue to develop the skills necessary to be good writers and readers. In addition to following the steps of the writing process, students will work on spelling, vocabulary, grammar, proofreading and editing. They will read in a variety of genres, beginning with an introduction to classic, humorous, "animal" poetry (i.e., Ogden Nash and Don Marquis). They will write communication journals, original poetry, and other creative and expository pieces. They will work on constructing solid 5- paragraph essays. Students will read self-selected books, as well as one novel that will be read by the whole class.
