Story: Guys from Space
vocabulary words: breathe, dream, planet, scary, space, spaceship, heroes, plastic, switches
skills: realism and fantasy, synonyms, main idea.
Monday night homework: Write a sentence with each vocabulary word. Each sentence should begin with a different word and include at least 5 words. Please have your child underline the vocabulary word in each sentence.
Nightly homework assignments: Please have your child read for at least 15 minutes each night. Also, please study and practice syllable division. A study guide was sent home several weeks ago.
Please help your child choose a book for the Reading Fair projects. Projects are due Friday, November 13, 2009. It is mandatory for all 2nd-5th grade students, and will count as 2 test grades for reading. This is a fun project that can really boost your child's reading grade. Guidelines and project boards were sent home last Monday. I sent another letter home last Thursday with all requirements.
Science:
We are reviewing the skeletal, digestive, nervous, and muscular systems. Our test will be Friday. The test will cover the functions of each system, as well as other basic information that we have been studying. Study guides have been sent home in the form of hands on projects we completed in class.
Skeleton retest of the lower body will be Wednesday.
Thanks for all you do to help with your child's education. As a team, I know your child will show tremendous growth this year.
