Eighth Grade
The first six weeks we studied atomic structure and the periodic table. Next on the list we will delve into pysical and chemical properties. It will be more in depth than what they were introduced to in sixth and seventh grade.
This is a big year for your kids. They have five TAKS tests that they will have to take in the spring. Science is one of those tests and we will be working very hard to get them prepared for it. They won't take this many tests again until they are in the eleventh grade. This is a big benchmark for assessing whether or not they are prepared for and ready to go on to high school. Encourage them to take this year serious as far as their studies are concerned. By law, they can be retained in the eighth grade if they don't pass a majority of these tests. So, every chance we get, we need to emphasized the importance for them to work hard this year.
