    6th Grade General Music

Students are enrolled in general music for one quarter during this school year 2010 - 2011.  Students in 6th grade general music will be learning:

*  Rhythm symbols and their terms.  Students will know how to read, clap and count basic rhythms.

*  Instrument Families

* Learn to read notes in the treble clef

*Learn to play the piano - reading the correct rhythm and notes on the music staff.

This class meets 8th hour.  2:18 to 3:10

 Sixth Grade classes do not have music classes in  the third quarter.

7th Grade General Music Class

Each quarter 7th Grade classes rotate between three exploratory classes.  One quarter students have computers, one quarter is art and one quarter is music. 

In each music class, I have divided the class time into three sections.  The first part of class is spent in instruction, the second part of class is spent in singing or practicing the piano lesson for the day and the third part of class is watching a classic musical.

Second Week of Third Quarter

This week students will be reviewing the rhythm symbols and their terms.  Students will bring home a study guide with the correct answers.  In class I will be using a variety of strategies to help the students know the rhythm symobls and their terms.

Test will be on Thursday - January 12, 2012
