Monday: Last Literature rectangles, review literary logs, and complete reading of Still Life.
Tuesday: Reflection Letter due. Daily Oral Language Multiple Choice test and Literary Device multiple choice test. Discuss Still Life and Day No Pigs themes, etc
Wednesday: Period 1 and 2 finals. First hour will be essay drafting. Second hour will be essay typing and submitting to turnitin.com.
Week 18
Monday: Children's book due and field trip permission slips
Tuesday: Field trip to Marshall for students who have submitted children's books.
Wednesday: Literature rectangles
Thursday: Literature rectangles
Friday: novel quizzes and preparation for finals.
Week 17
Monday: Memorial Day Holiday
Tuesday: Literature rectangles. Children's book illustration completion.
Wednesday, Thursday: Finalize details of book, including glossary, title, cover page, binding, etc.
Friday: Literature rectangle and last minute planning and finishing up children's book details. Your completed beautiful, creative, original children's book is due on Monday.

Still Life with Rice and A Day No Pigs Would Die reading rectangles continue. Be sure to prepare for your reading rectangle by writing and answering questions before you come to class. You must do the reading as homework to be prepared for class discussion time and earn full credit.

Week 14
Children's book assignment
Monday: final literature circles for TKAM. Essay prompts discussed. Envelope quotes shared and essay draft started. Homework: complete essay draft for typing and final on Tuesday.
Tuesday: Type and submit TKAM essays to turnitin.com
Wednesday: Return books, begin Still Life with Rice or A Day No Pigs Would Die in discussion rectangles/circles.
Thursday: Children's book assignment, Still Life intro. Spelling test for TKAM
Friday: Children's book assignment (link at top) and reading time. Bring your book to class everyday. Vocabulary test for TKAM. Homework: select a partner or decide to work alone on the children's book assignment. Subject heroes and partner choices will be finalized on Monday. Read per the reading chart in preparation for our first literature circle on the 18th or 19th depending on the STAR testing schedule.
Week 13
We will complete reading To Kill a Mockingbird this week and begin to prepare for writing our essay next week.
Stay current with your envelope activity, adding quotations or passages from the novel that respond to the theme on your envelope.

Monday and Tuesday : TKAM continues with Lit circle. Forms from first part of book will be collected and evaluated today. You will also conduct a self assessment of your own work within your lit circle.
Wednesday: STAR testing begins. Do you best on the English Langauage Arts test: Periods 1,3,5 meet after the test ends. TKAM reading in class.
Thursday: STAR testing continues. Periods 1,2,3,4,5,6 meet after testing. Lit circle
Friday: STAR testing continues. Periods 2,4,6 meet after testing.

Tuesday: Chapter 5 in class. Homework: read Chapter 6 and prepare for Wednesday lit circle. Print out historical context article (link above). Read the article, mark words that you do not understand, and bring it to class on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Chapter 7 in class then immediately into a lit circle covering Ch 7. Homework: read Ch 8
Thursday: Read Ch 9 in class then immediately into a lit circle covering Ch 8,9. Homework: read Ch 10

Animal Farm Vocabulary flashcards due Thursday. Vocabulary matching test will be next week.
Bring a printout of the chapter we will be reading in class if you do not have an Animal Farm book. You will lose points for each day you do not bring your book to class.
