Symptoms & transmission
Last updated May 23rd, 2011 at 6:03 a.m.Symptoms of Strep Throat include: fever, red throat (sometimes with white spots), tender swollen glands, possible nausea and stomach ache. (It is also possible to have strep throat without the classic very sore throat.)
Method of Transmission - Direct contact with nose and throat secretions of infected person. Indirect contact with contaminated objects or hands.
Communicable period - Until 24 hours after appropriate antibiotic threatment. Keep home from school until at least 24 hours after medication is started, fever is gone and child "feels better". Report positive strep test to school office.
Remind your children to:
-Wash hands frequently
-Cover coughs and sneezes
