Intermediate TL - Illinois visitors!
Today we had a group of visitors from Illinois, who marveled at the work ethic of our Intermediate students in their TL time. Whether working as groups or individually, our students were able to show well how work is done here at Lial!
Reading - Biography Bottle!
The Biography Bottle Project is in full swing. With a due date of Tuesday, November 10, the students should be well under way in their work on this project. Directions were given to our students here at school. Several bottles have already arrived at school, and may be viewed in the Intermediate. The oral presentation, which is to explain/accompany the bottle, can be worked on at school or at home. The bottle itself should be mainly completed at home, due to the need for time and layout space.
Remember the due date - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10!
Writing
Writing continues, with a focus (lifelong, really) on editing. Our editing standards will gradually become more stringent, with a realization of the need for careful, thorough editing, with a sense of responsibility and accountability for the person serving as editor.
Grammar News
Grammar, that often misunderstood area of TL, is being practiced in a number of ways in the Intermediate. By now, you have probably seen the "Drop in the Bucket" pages coming home. These are a way to review basic grammar and mechanics in a quick, no-frills format. Check these out as they arrive at home! Other grammar practice allows students to delve deeper into a particular skill, contractions for example! Of course, the way it is hoped these practices pay off is in our writings - as we edit and revise essays, book reports, and other written work!
