LONG TERM ASSIGNMENTS

Stock Project - Currently we are preparing to select stocks and learn how the market works.

Dear Parents,

This year we are using the McDougall Littell Algebra textbook. My aim is to complete the book this year. We do every lesson of every chapter. The first 6 to7 chapters of the text are repetitive and virtually review material coming off the Pre-Algebra book we used last year. The problems a bit more complicated but using the same skills the students learned last year. Interspersed with the text material will be our 8th grade Stock Project. You should have already heard from your children about the stock project as it began about a week ago when we chose the companies we wanted to invest our money in. It is the main enrichment activity we do throughout the year. The class will also work on challenge activities in groups at school and individually sometimes for homework assignments over the course of the year. Having the Pre-Algebra background from 7th grade and doing the review with the Algebra this year for the first trimester, the students are well situated to take the HSPT for admission into the high school of their choice.

Please do not hestitate to contact me of you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mrs. Loraditch
