Go on line to http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/education/ explorations/tours/geotime/index.html
This cool website will review the geologic time scale and even give you some insights we didn’t have time to cover in class! Take brief notes on the law of superposition and radiometric dating. Also write three questions that could be used on a test that cover information about the geologic time scale. Make up your own questions before you take the quiz at the end. |
Note: We will have a TEST on geology ( rock cycle, weathering, caves, geologic time scale, geologic maps, experiment components, karst topography) on Wednesday Nov 11.
For those who don’t have computer access – if you can get access only one day, do the geologic time scale review online. Homework due Wednesday:
1. Sketch the rock cycle diagram on your answer sheet. Write the name of each process on the appropriate arrow.
2. Use your own words to describe the sequence of processes that result in igneous rocks. Describe a specific example of a sedimentary rock becoming an igneous rock.
3. Use your own words to describe the sequence of processes that result in sedimentary rocks. Describe a specific example of a sedimentary rock becoming a new type of sedimentary rock.
4. Use your own words to describe the sequence of processes that result in metamorphic rocks. Describe a specific example of a sedimentary rock becoming a metamorphic rock.
Homework due Friday. Look up in an encyclopedia, etc. and take brief notes on the law of superposition and on radiometric dating. Also write three questions that could be used on a test that covers information about the geologic time scale.
