Ladybugs, Butterfies, and Bees. Oh My!
Greetings K-4 Parents,
Just a quick note to update you on what the class will be focusing on the next few weeks. Usually about this time reading circles have begun for some of the students and the rest will follow within the next week. This is a very exciting time in K-4. We have been building up for this since day one!
Rules that your student should know are the one vowel rule "If a word has one vowel it usually says the short vowel sound" (they have hand motions for this), another is "If a word ends in two same sounding consonants you only say the sound once" and the sentence rule "A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a period". Please continue to have your child practice the blend ladders at the right corner of their writing papers to reinforce skills taught in the classroom. If you have a question or need to speak with me, please do not hesitate to call the school at 424-1205. If I am unable to speak with you then I will call you back at my first opportunity. I appreciate all the encouraging support from all of you. Keep up the great work! You are great parents and you have great kids! A new wind is blowing in and soon your homes will be invaded by ladybugs, butterflies and bees eager to read!
