Social Studies Portion of the Rock N Roll Project for 8th graders

On April 23rd 8th grade social studies students were introduced to the Rock N Roll Project by Pam Merz.

On Tuesday 24, and Wednesday 25, Jen Davis were given instruction on how to conduct research.

On Thursday the 26th students will choose their song.

Friday will be the day that all students will be finished choosing their song.

Upon knowing their song our 8th grade social studies students will be asked to find facts about the following:

3 Maine Facts

3 US Facts

3 World Facts

Within these 9 facts one of the facts has to be about science, one about math, and one about a Spanish speaking country.

Also include a slide for each of the following:

*On TV show

*A celebrity who was born that year.

*Prices of common items such as:

milk, bread, eggs, gasoline, sneakers (all on one slide)

All facts need to have sources listed on bottom of  the slide page.

Each fact needs to be put on one key note slide each with no timing sequence and no transitions.  Just one slide for each fact.

The facts must be from the year the song was first performed or within two years before or two years after the year the song was first performed.

For instance    1958, 1959        1960         1961, 1962

Each fact needs to be put on one key note slide each with no timing sequence and no transitions.  Just one slide for each fact.

12 slides in all.  No more than three colors on the page.

Also use the attachment sent to your email address to keep track of your work.

You need a planner to remember your assignments

Next year, Freshman Year-  You will be having GREEN DAYS AND GOLD DAYS.

Many students have two backpacks, one for the green days and one for the gold days.

Keeping track of your assignments is important. Planners can be a huge help not only

for your assignments but for other school and social events!!

You have been given the challenge to come up with a way to systematically remember your assignments.  Overwhelmingly, most students have decided  that a  planner would work better than just trying to remember it.
