When should a child stay home from school?

1. Fever of 100 or more: Please do not send a child back to school until they have been fever free for a full 24 hours without medication.

2. Vomiting or diarrhea: Please do not send a child back to school until they have been free from vomiting and/ or diarrhea for a full 24 hours.

3. Skin Rash: Any rash of unknown causes will be treated as contagious until a note is received from the child's pediatrician stating otherwise.

4. Lice: Astudent with lice will not be permitted to attend school until ALL lice and ALL nits are removed, proof of treatment has been given to school, and clearance from the school nurse has been given.  Students must have proof of a second treatment and clearance from the school nurse in 7-10 days from the first treatment.

5. Colds and sore throats: A child with a "heavy" cold, runny nose with head ache and nausea, or a deep hacking cough belongs at home, even if he / or she has no fever.  If your child is too tired to concentrate on school work, then the child is probably too sick to attend school.

6. "Pinkeye" or conjunctivitis: If your child has a draining, itchy eye that is red please have them seen by thier pediatrician to rule out conjunctivitis.
