Fourth Quarter Syllabus

Course description.  Spanish III will continue to develop the communications skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 with emphasis on writing and oral proficiency. Participation and group interaction is critical to the course!

 

Main theme: Travel to Argentina. We will cover chapter 6 from “Ya verás.” Traveling, Scheduling, and Booking. We will learn the vocabulary and expressions needed to travel in the “Spanish Speaking World.” We will also study some idioms related to the main theme of the quarter.

 

Regarding grammar, we will learn the present perfect and the past perfect tense.

 

Book: “Ya verás, Tercer nivel.” Also newspapers, magazines, videos and other sources.

 

Cultural aspect: We will virtually travel to Argentina with the movie “Argentina Beyond Our Borders. We will also watch “The Motorcycle Diaries,” about the life of Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and his exciting road trip across Latin America, and discuss political, social, and cultural aspects of Argentina’s recent history.

 

Projects:

 

  1. The students will make a fifteen-minute presentation about a famous Argentinean of their choice. (Che Guevara, Salvador, Perón, Evita Perón, etc).
  2. The students will write their own poems and read them to the class.

Exam: There will be one oral and written exam each quarter.
