Hello,
My name is Johnna Wells. I was raised in Southern Illinois in a little town called Raleigh. The total population was 250 people. I graduated from Eldorado High School. My family owns a Thoroughbred Race Horse Training Center in Eldorado. My father was a retired jockey and my oldest brother chose to follow in his footsteps and become a jockey also. All three of my brothers run the family training center. My mother is retired from Eldorado CUSD #4 where she served as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for 30 years.
This is my 28th year teaching P.E. in Madison. I began teaching Adapted Physical Education for Special Needs students for 13 years. I then began teaching elementary P.E. at Harris and Long and also one year of 8th grade girl's P.E.
I graduated from McKendree College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. I received my Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology in 1999. In 2002, I added my Master's +30 with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Education.
I have had the opportunity to coach a variety of sports throughout the years. I have coached girl's volleyball, basketball, and track at Madison High School. I also coached girl's basketball and volleyball at Madison Middle School. I enjoyed coaching very much, but decided to return to college to obtain my Master's Degree and my Master's +30.
I have two nephews and one neice. My oldest nephew is 14 and is a freshman this year. He is playing football. My youngest nephew is 9 and is in 4th grade. My neice is 6 and is in 1st grade. I have one Godson, who is 21 years old and is serving in the Army. Finally, I have four dogs: Tre', Reesie, Hershey and Dexter.
I continue to enjoy teaching and am always willing to learn new things from my students in Madison.
Thanks for the experience!
Johnna Wells
