***Parents/guardians must check planners each night for homework assignments***

Projects and seminars are based on Nevada social studies and science standards. The goal by the end of the year is to have each standard in both areas covered. Students will have approximately one month to complete a project.  Students will start working on new projects the first week of each month and must present the project the last week of the month.  Adjustments will be made in the schedule for extended holidays. Students have an opportunity to work on projects at school but should also work on them at home. Since there is no school on Mondays, it is expected that students are working on their projects and homework assignments on this additional day off.

Required materials for class each day:

Clark County Public Library card, Thumb/flash drive, scissors, pen and/or pencil, binder/folder, writing paper, planners, colored pencils/markers/crayons. Additional materials to complete projects.

All projects must include a 1-2 page report. They may be hand written or typed in size 12 font, single or double spaced with one inch margins in APA format. A cover page is also highly recommended. Students must be able to pronounce every word in their report and understand the meanings of the words they are using. This prevents any suspicion of plagiarism.

3 source Bibliography: Please refer to planners for an example. The bibliography must include at least 3 different sources such as a website, encylopedia, an interview, books, DVD's, etc. and must be written exactly as the examples in the planner to receive full credit. Three websites would only count as one source, not three. Google.com is a search engine, it is not a website and does not count as a source. Wikipedia.com is not permitted at EKA.

Every student must do a Power Point Presentation for at least one project. There must be at least one different visual for each project and it is recommended to have more than one visual. Please refer to planner for ideas and examples.
