Math

*** Parents/Guardians must check planners each night for homework assignments***

Heading for papers: The heading for all assignments turned in must be in the top right corner of the page and must include first and last name, date of assignment, my name, and subject/period. The title will be the page numbers of the assignment and must be placed in the middle of the page on the top line.

Tests are based off of the homework assignments issued from the Saxon math textbook. If a student is not doing the homework, there is a high probability that the student will not pass the tests and therefore will not pass the class. Please be sure that your child is working on his/her homework each night.

CCSD Assessment and Accountability Division Instructional Data Services math testlettes will be used in addition to the Saxon textbooks to meet the Common Core State Standards curriculum. Each page contains math problems that covers one math standard. These will be used as warm-ups and at times will extend through an entire class period in place of Saxon to be sure students learn and understand the standard or skill.

Required supplies for class each day:

Folder/binder to hold papers, writing paper, pencil, planners, Saxon textbook. Only pencils should be used for math assignments, no pens, markers, colored pencils, etc. unless grading/checking assignments in class.

Saxon math textbooks are issued to all students. Students are required to take the textbook home each night and complete homework assignments. Textbooks are to be returned to school each day for use in the classroom. Students are responsible for the book issued to them and must return it at the end of the school year.

If students do not complete their classwork, they will have to finish it for homework. Most days, students will have time to begin their homework assignments in class.

By the end of the year, all students must have the multiplication tables memorized up to 10.

HOMEWORK: Students will write homework assignments in planners everyday. Parents/guardians should check and initial planners. There will be homework almost every night. Because there is no school for students on Mondays, homework will be assigned over the weekends.
