Heading for papers: The heading for all assignments turned in must be in the top right corner of the page and must include first and last name, date of assignment, my name, and subject/period. The title must be placed in the middle of the page on the top line.
Required supplies for class each day:
Clark County Public Library card, folder/binder to hold papers, writing paper, pen or pencil, planners, class book and SSR book.

Class Work:
-Warm-Ups will take place at the beginning of class and will consist of 1-2 Daily Oral Language Assignments, journal writing, and/or blogging.
-We will be reading novels in class to cover fiction CCSS. Every student will be issued a book and is responsible for taking the book home each night and bringing it back for use in class each day.
-Periodically, there will be chapter quizes about the book and discussions in class.
-CCSD Assessment and Accountability Division Instructional Data Services ELA testlettes will be used to prepare for the CRT Test and to meet Common Core State Standards.

Spelling Tests:
-Every Friday, students will be given a new list of 20 spelling words (plus 5 bonus words) which will be written in their planners. Students will be tested the following Friday unless there is a holiday. Students must be able to spell the words, know the definitions, and use the words correctly in sentences. Students will need access to dictionaries in book form or the Internet to look up the definitions.

HOMEWORK:
-Students must study the 20 spelling/vocabulary words of the week. Spelling activities were sent home. Students are to select 4 activities as practice throughout the week.
-Students must read for at least 30 minutes every night. They may read the class book or something of their own choosing. Examples would be food boxes/containers, magazines, comic books, signs, etc. This must be recorded in their planners each night.

-Once a book is completed, students will receive a FREE pizza coupon from Pizza Hut. The book must be recorded in their reading log with a parent/guardian signature.
