Homework Packets
Your child will bring home a homework packet on Mondays. They need to choose 4 assignments from the spelling pages; one to be completed each day, Monday through Thursday. Every week the spelling list focuses on one or two spelling rules which can be applied to many other words. This homework also gives an opportunity to work on careful penmanship. Neat work merits lots of praise!
Math sheets of different levels of difficulty are also included in the package. Your child is free to pick two sheets each week, they may complete more than two if they want to. The math work is connected to the topics we are covering in class.
Please help your child work out a time and a place in which to do homework. Creating a daily routine together works best. The homework packets should be returned every Friday, when we will have our spelling quiz.
Students should read for at least fifteen minutes daily. They can read to themselves or to afamily member or listen to a family member reading to them. Children benefit greatly from discussing books. Adults can help by having children predict what might happen next, devise questions about the book or discuss the book in depth. This helps your child understand what he/she is reading and interpret what they have read.
