Digital Photography/Yearbook – 2008-09 Teacher: Janis Trizna Email: Janis@newschoolva.com Syllabus is posted at www.schoolrack.com/janis Description Students will be taught how to take digital pictures, use a digital camera, and how to edit and expand their images using Adobe Photoshop. Students will create a portfolio of their pictures. One portfolio will be of their assignments for the school yearbook and another portfolio of their own creative images. Focus Skill Students communicate effectively • Students translate the concept into a meaningful visual form Grading Class Participation: 20% Yearbook Portfolio: 40% Photoshop Portfolio: 40% Yearbook Portfolio The yearbook portfolio will consist of images to be used for yearbook layouts. The portfolio should contain, but not limited to the subject matter assigned to the student. Photoshop Portfolio The Photoshop portfolio will consist of images completed using Adobe Photoshop. The portfolio will contain projects using the tools of the program. Participation Students should come to class ready to learn. They should actively participate in class discussions and projects. Students will be graded daily on their participation. The grade will be posted weekly on PowerSchool. Absences / Late Work Students are responsible for all work missed during any absences. Students may need to make up work during lunch, before or after school, when their computer is available. Following the school's absence policy, students who are absent more than 10 times during the quarter will be withdrawn from the class.
