Camp WannaRead

This Nine Weeks  our 4th grade students signed a contract to participate in either reading projects or Accelerated Reader.  Our students have 20 minutes of DEAR ( drop everything and read) time daily.  They also have 30 minutes a week minimum to complete a project on a favorite book read.  4th grade requires one report each on a 1) nonfiction 2) biography 3) chapter book and 4) free choice per quarter ( 9 week period).  Every student was given a projects choice sheet and a rubric to go along with each project.  You may download each of those here.  If 4 projects are completed with at least 15/20 points awarded, they may attend Camp "Wanna" Read.

Another option given was to read 6 books in the above mentioned categories through Accelerated Reader.  Books must be read in their ZPD range with an average of 90% for the term.  The student will use graphic organizers for fiction and non-fiction prior to the AR test.  If 6 books minimum are read and 90% accuracy was maintained, they may attend Camp "Wanna" Read.

I know everyone will reach their goal!
