Week of 11/12/07 - We are beginning chapter 10. This chapter focuses on a review of subtraction with regrouping. Reinforce this skill with your child. Please help them to notice when they need and do not need to regroup.
Week of 10/29/07 - We are beginning Chapter 9 which focuses on 2-digit subtraction with borrowing. This is often a complex topic for students. Be sure to assist your child with this concept and help with any worksheets that they may bring home. You may visit the Harcourt Math site for additional practice.
Week of 10/22/07 - We are in the midst of Chapter 6. We are focusing on various subtraction strategies and learning ways that subtraction and addition are related by creating fact families and learning how to identify the missing addend.
Week of 10/15/07 - We will finish up chapters 5, 7, and 8 by taking our second cluster test of the year. After our test, we will begin Chapter 6 and focus on division strategies in preparation for 2-digit subtraction with borrowing. Please begin working on this concept with your child.
Week of 10/8/2007 - We are reinforcing our addition strategies and continuing to practice addition with regrouping.
Week of 10/1/2007 - We are finishing up Chapter 7 and moving to Chapter 8. These chapters focus on 2-digit addition with regrouping.
Week of 9/24/2007 - We are continuing with chapter five (addition strategies and adding three one-digit numbers). We will then move to chapter seven and begin our exploration of 2-digit addition.
Week of 9/10/2007 - Chapter 3 (pgs. 33-48) We are learning about comparing and ordering numbers which includes: Ordinal numbers, greater than, less than, and equal to.
