EARLY COLLEGE — This summer, the University will pilot UA Early College, its newest program for high school students who want to earn college credit, save on tuition and work toward automatic admission to the University. The program is designed for high school juniors and seniors who have at least a 3.0 grade point average and a recommendation from their high school counselor, principal or home school agent. Freshman-level courses are taught online, and students are mentored during the program. Students can earn up to 30 hours of college credit that is accepted at all public colleges and universities in Alabama. A one-day orientation for rising juniors and seniors and their parents will be held Saturday, July 11, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bryant Conference Center. Dependents of UA employees who qualify for the tuition benefit receive half-price tuition plus the Early College scholarship.
