1. Saving electricity...

Change all the lightbulbs in your house to energy-saving bulbs.  This can reduce your monthly electric bill and wastes less energy.  Remember to throw out broken or chipped light bulbs beacuse they do contain mercury which is poisonous to people.

2. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!!!

Save your plastic bags from the grocery store and separate your recyclables from the garbage.  Use a separate bage for aluminum cans, one for glass bottles, and one for plastic containers.  Many cities collect recyclables but you may not know it!

3. Waste not!

Another way to help the environment is to cut down on the amount of trash you throw out, or to cut down on the space that trash is taking up.  For example, ripping up cardboard into small pieces helps reduce space by eliminating some of the empty space inside of a box.  A great way to compress your trash is to purchase a trash compactor for your kitchen.
