AR & STAR

All fifth grade students will take the STAR test during the first few weeks of school. The results  will be  used to determine the individual A.R. Goal for the first semester.  Students will take the STAR Test again in January, to determine their new goal for the second semester.  Every student in a Gifted or TEAM class is expected to meet their goal.  Each student will receive two grades that are averaged into their final reading grade each marking period.  One grade is their percentage of goal.  The second grade is their percentage correct.  Students are expected to maintain a score of 80% or above for their percentage correct.  All tests that are taken must be within their reading range.

Please remind your child to read each evening for 30 minutes.  This is a home learning requirement.  Students will not have a problem reaching their goal if they adhere to this schedule.
