Spelling Contract
Each week, the students will have a contract for their Spelling homework. They have a choice as to the type and how many activities they complete and a grade will be given accordingly.
The contract will be graded as follows:
20 Points = 100%
15 Points = 75%
10 Points = 50%
5 Points = 25%
No Contract = 0%
The assignments are meant to help the children study for thei Friday test. They may only do each choice once a week. Assignments are due no later than Friday, but can be turned in at any time during the week.
5 Point Choices --
Write the words and underline all vowels
Write the words in alphabetical order
Write the words and underline all consonants
Divide each word into syllables
Write the words and cross out the silent letters
Write the words using one color for vowels and another color for consonants
Write the words forwards and then backwards
Write a rhyming word for each Spelling word
10 Point Choices --
Draw a picture for each word
Write the words five times each
Make a set of flash cards to use for studying
Use 10 or more words in sentences (no more than 2 Spelling words in a sentence)
Make a word search for all of the words
Write a story using at least 10 Spelling words
Make a cartoon strip using at least 10 Spelling words
Make a word scramble for each word and give the solution (for example: atc=cat)
Write a synonym or antonym for each word
15 Point Choices --
Look up each word in the dictionary and write its meaning
Cut out the Spelling words from magazines or newspapers and make a collage
Cut out a picture and then use the Spelling words to write a story
Write the words in secret code (include the code)
