Homework for the year is very simple. Read twenty books during the school year, keep track of your reading with a reading log and write about the books once a month.
Every day read 30 minutes at home. Document your reading, have your parents sign your log, and turn in the log on Friday. You must read five times a week for at least thirty minutes at a time. If you miss a day during the week, you may make it up on the weekend. Your reading log is worth 50 points a week or 10 points for every day that you read for thirty minutes. You may read for more than 30 minutes; however, you must read five days.
You may choose your reading material, but it must be on your reading level. (No Junie B. Jones type books!) Your book must have at least 100 pages. If your book has 300 pages or more it will count as two books! If it has 450 pages it will count as three books etc. You must read five books during each grading period. One of the five books, we will read in class as part of your curriculum. If you have a question about whether or not your chosen book will “count,” ASK me! **Florida Teens Reads titles count double!**
The first Friday of every month, you will have a writing assignment based on the books that you read the previous month. You must read two books a month independently OR one book with 300 pages.
Homework is 15% of your grade. You cannot make an A if you do not do your homework.
