Novel

You are also required to read a novel of your choice (at least 200 pages).  Be prepared to discuss the book (theme, setting, characters, mood, conflicts, moral tone), the time period the novel is from, and the author of the novel.  Be prepared to discuss the book with peers and the teacher during the second week of school. (Take notes if you need to. “I don’t remember” will not be taken as an acceptable answer).  DO NOT wait until the first week of next school year to try to do all of this work. We will be jumping right in with different homework assignments. This reading and your short story forms are to be completed during the summer and presented the second week of school. No exceptions.  Your summer project will count as your first major grade of the year.
