My Information

Hello, and welcome to my web page!  Born in Belleville, Illinois a long time ago, I never lived outside of Illinois.  In fact, I have lived within 100 miles of my birthplace my entire life.  I grew up in Swansea my first four years, moved to Shiloh for 4 years, lived in O'Fallon for the next 17 years, moved to Troy for a year, Mt. Vernon for another, Nashville for another, O'Fallon for six months, and I currently reside in Shiloh.  Whew!

I have been teaching for eleven years now, with the first six years spent as a substitute teacher.  I have subbed in the Illinois counties of Clinton, Madison, St. Clair, and Washington as well as St. Louis County.  I have worked as a summer school English teacher at O’Fallon Township High School, my alma mater.  In 2005, Mascoutah High School hired me as a permanent substitute English teacher.  In May of 2006, I landed my first full-time teaching job in Bluford, Illinois.  I was the head coach for the girl’s fast-pitch softball team, a freshmen and senior sponsor, and taught three different levels of English there, as well as social studies, world history, and current events.

After my second year at Webber Township High School, I realized the cost of expensive gasoline and the mileage I was tacking onto my car.  In one day, I was traveling eighty miles to and from work.  Madison Accelerated High School gave me the opportunity to live near my hometown of O’Fallon, where I can be closer to my immediate family.  I teach ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade English at Madison, and I am the head coach of the boy's baseball team in the spring.  In November of 2008, my wife Jessica  and I bought a house in Shiloh, Illinois.  She is an OBGYN nurse at Barne’s Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  We have a two year old son Garrison and a newborn girl, Alyssa (born April 13).

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, writing, listening to any music but country, playing an almost unnecessary amount of golf and softball, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.
