It is the goal of the Central Elementary team to establish and maintain a partnership with the parents in the education of the children.
On Tuesday's your child's work and other important papers will be sent home. If there is a request for you to sign & return, then please take the time to do this.
No Tests!
Every month two children from each classroom will be recognized for their behavior and accompishment. One is the Student of the Month and the other is the Terrific Kid. The Student of the Month for April is Sophia Ramirez and the Terrific Kid is Joshua Jackson!
What We're Up To

This week: May 16-18:
Reading/ LA: We will continue introducing and continuing work on First grade skills. We are going to continue discussing nouns and working with them. We will als be discussing adjectives. We will be discussing verbs. We are also continuing work with antonyms, synonyms, and we will introduce homonyms. We will be discussing the use of the apostrophe to show ownership. We are also still reviewing plurals & singulars. We will continue working on contractions. Our primary focus will be on the Language Arts skill of composing descriptions of nouns.
Math: Every day in math we go over calendar skills. We will continue reviewing our numbers and number names, and continue discussing even/odd numbers. We will begin doing more hands-on graphing activities. We introduced a new coin every week, and have continued reviewing each coin. We are also continuing to solve addition and subtraction problems. We will continue discussing symmetry. We will also keep working with fractions (1/2, 1/3, & 1/4). We are going to continue identifying 3- dimensional shapes as well as congruents shapes. We will continue doing 3 addend addition. We are going to continue doing double digit addition. We are going to continue practicing measurement using standard units of measurement (inches & centimeters). Our primary focus in math this week will be symmetry.
Science: In science we are focusing on the Solar System.
Social Studies: We will continue discussing the importance of rules and procedures, self- responsibility, and respecting others (figures of authority and classmates). We are also going to be talking about what a globe represents, as well as cardinal directions(N, S, E, W) We will also continue using timelines.
