My name is Jan Enfinger and I currently teach 8th grade American History. I began my full-time teaching career at Ransom Middle School in 2003. Prior to that I was happily a stay-at-home Wife/Mom and then substitute for approximately 12 years. I am married and have two beautiful daughters (just a little proud) who are both currently in college. I have always loved American History, especially the Civil War era, and was very fortunate to begin my teaching career at Ransom Middle School teaching American History to 7th graders. After two years, American History was transitioning to 8th grade so I moved to 8th grade, taught one year of Civics, and then continued teaching American History. I have several cats and a miniature horse. I like to garden and I am a major Auburn fan. "War Eagle"
Last year I fulfilled a dream I have had for quite some time and that was to form a History Club at Ransom which I co-advise with Mrs. Kellie Broome, 7th grade Geography, and Mr. Terrence Brown, 8th grade American History. We meet each Thursday from 3:30-5:00 in my classroom, room 182 and are affiliated with the National History Club. We started our first year with 4 members. This year we have 21 members which makes me even more excited about prospects for next year. All you have to do to join is be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, enjoy learning History (not just American), and complete an application, which you can get from me, Mrs. Broome, or Mr. Brown. It's History without the tests! Check us out!
