Books Worth Reading

 Some Authors and Series worth looking into: (thanks to the Cinncinnati Public Library)

1)    Amelia Atwater-Rhodes: A teenage writer of horror fiction, she published her first book in 1999 at the age of 14.  Her books include Midnight Predator, Shattered Mirror and Demon in My View.
2)    Caroline B. Cooney: The author of the now classic novel The Face on the Milk Carton (and its three sequels) has also written several historical fiction books including The Ransom of Mercy Carter and The Goddess of Yesterday.
3)    Sharon M. Draper:  An author whose stories feature strong teen characters dealing with difficult issues.  Her books include Tears of the Tiger and Double Dutch.
4)    Will Hobbs:  His survival and adventure stories are action packed and often feature guys as the  main characters.  His books include Wild Man Island and Bearstone.
5)    Walter Dean Myers:  He has won tons of awards, including the Printz Award and the Corretta Scott King Award.  His Books include Monsters and Scorpions.
6)    Phyllis Reynolds Naylor:  The author of the well-known Alice series, she is also the author of The Fear Place and Blizzard’s Wake.
7)    Garth Nix:  Author of many popular fantasy books including the Seventh Tower series, his books include Sabriel and Lireal, Daughter of the Clayr.
8)    Jacqueline Woodson:  Her fiction books often focus on real life teen issues like rascism and abuse.  Her books include Miracle’s Boys and If You Come Softly.
9)    Lynne Ewing:  Her fantasy series, Daughters of the Moon, follows the story of four unique and gifted young women.
10)    Francine Pascal:  Her series, Fearless, features Gala Moore, a seriously tough high school senior who isn’t afraid of anything.
