To Walk the Sky Path
We are reading To Walk the Sky Path. The book is about a Native American boy and his struggle to balance two cultures. The story is set here in Florida and complements both the fourth grade reading program and the social studies program.
Science
Our current unit of study is about living things. We have learned about cell, organs, and organisms. The students have diagramed and studied both a cell and a flower.
Social Studies
Social Studies in our class has focused around the study of our beautiful state. We have used our map and globe skillls to increase our knowledge of Florida. We have studied the geography and climate of Florida and we are learning about the Native Americans who first came to Florida. This is a great year for a family trip to St. Augustine where Floirda history comes alive. Get to know your state. Did you know that Thomas Edison's original light bulbs still burn in his winter home which is located in Ft. Meyers? A trip to The Kennedy Space Center is also a spectacular way to learn. Get out there and enjoy some of the wonderful places in our State of Florida.
Math
Place value to the millions. That's what we opened the year with studying. We are now involved in improving our calendar and time skills. Organizing and structuring the use of time is a skill that students will always need.
