Classroom Discipline Plan
Rules, Rewards, Consequences
Ø Rules:
1. Follow directions the first time they are given.
2. Raise your hand to speak and wait to be called upon.
3. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
4. Stay in your seat.
5. Change tasks quickly and quietly.
Ø If a student chooses to break a rule:
1. Verbal warning (yellow card)
2. Note/ phone call to parent (red card)
3. After-school detention (if the behavior continues)
Severe disruption: Student will immediately be sent to the counselor/office for administrative action.
I use a color chart system where each child has a pocket containing 3 cards, green, yellow and red. When a rule is broken, students will be given a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, the student will be asked to change his/her color to yellow (caution). If further warnings are warranted, he or she will then be asked to change the color to red. Our discipline plan includes behavior in and out of the classroom, in special areas and in the cafeteria.
Students who behave appropriately will be positively rewarded. Each day that your child stays on green he/she will receive a sticker on the classroom behavior chart. Those children are able to choose a reward from the treasure chest.
It is in your child’s best interest that we work together in regard to your child’s education. I have already discussed the rules, rewards, and consequences with your child. Please go over it with him/her once more. The code of student conduct is also a good resource for basic rules and policies.
Thank you.
