Dear Parents,
As your child’s new second grade teacher, I would first like to welcome each one of you to our classroom community and to a great new year! This year, your children will have Mrs. Arquiette as a full-time aide who, I can assure you, will be a great asset to our class.
Our schedule this year will be a busy one, and your children will have the following specials to look forward to throughout the week:
*Monday— Art
*Tuesday— Music
*Wednesday – Technology & Physical Education (don’t forget the school PE uniform!)
*Thursday—Library
Starting Tuesday and every Monday following, I will send home a sheet entitled “What’s Playing in 2-1”. This sheet provides you with a “week at a glance” of 2-1. It will list the spelling and vocabulary words (which will be used as bonus words on the spelling tests) and a schedule of tests during the week. This paper will also serve as a homework sheet, so your child should keep this paper in his or her homework folder and bring it to school daily. Any important notices and reminders (or celebrations) for the week will also be listed on this page.
Weekly communication will sent out through email. The email will provide you with information about activities and lessons in the classroom, links to resources at home, schedule changes and volunteer opportunities. Please sign up at http://www.schoolrack.com/edursa. I will also post documents as needed on the website.
All textbooks need to be covered. Paperback workbooks may be covered with clear contact paper or brown paper bag. The reading book needs to be covered with a brown paper bag or book sock. Please send in your child’s school supplies (with his or her name) as soon as possible if you have not already done so.
I can be reached during the school day at (540) 286-1600, extension #113, notes, or edursa@holycrossweb.com. I will get back to you as quickly as possible on every occasion. Please do not hesitate to contact me whenever needed.
I will not be able to be at Thursday’s PTO night for orientation because I will be out of town for my brother’s wedding in Chicago. I will be here on Tuesday during the Middle School orientation. If you cannot make the Tuesday night meeting, I will be available for conferences before or after school the following week. Thank you for your understanding with the schedule change. I look forward to meeting all of you and wish you and your children a wonderful first week of school!
Sincerely,
Miss Dursa
