COURSE DESCRIPTION:Students will gather information about many different careers using communication and critical thinking skills that are reinforced through the use of the Georgia Performance Standards. Simulations and projects promoting teamwork and leadership skills offer further opportunities for application of knowledge and skills. COURSE GOALSThe purpose of this course is to enable the student to be able to: (1) Utilize electronic media resources to explore careers and (2)) demonstrate appropriate workplace skills and business ethics. (3) Prepare healthy meals (4) Explore different career clusters (5) Learn job skills and (6) anything else that touches the home and heart. FAMILY, CAREER, and COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA) FCCLA is an international vocation student organization that is a component of the business education program. Meetings will be held both during class and other announced times. Dues will be announced at a later date. FCCLA members will demonstrate leadership as they participate in local school activities, as well as district, state, and national competitions. SUPPLIES AND COURSE FEE Each student is asked to bring one of the following items: 1. Paper Towels 2. Hand Sanitizer 3. Tissue 4. Hand Soap GRADING
Grades for the course will be based on the following levels of performance:
Grade Performance Standard A Independent Learner - demonstrates knowledge with A grade of 90 or higher
B Semi-independent Learner - demonstrates knowledge with a grade of 80 or higher
C Dependent Learner - demonstrates knowledge with a grade of 70 or higher F Very Dependent Learner - Did not complete projects or class work, grade is below 60
