WHEN, TIME & WHAT?
Your child may have the opportunity to attend the ExCEL program at Harris Elementary School! Below you will find important information about ExCEL! There is limited space so please be sure to get your child’s enrollment paperwork to school in order for he/she to be considered for the program. If your child is selected for the ExCEL program, the school will contact you.
WHEN: Monday – Thursday
TIME: 2:30 – 5:30
WHAT: Math and Reading Academic Tutorial and 4-H Project Clubs and Enrichment Activities
ATTENDANCE POLICY
No student will be allowed to go home after school unless they have a written letter stating that they are not to attend ExCEL. If your child must miss the program for any reason, please contact the school or send a note with your child. Please be aware that if your child has excessive absences from the program he or she may be dropped from the program. There is a waiting list and students are waiting to get the opportunity to join the program.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
Due to the limited amount of spaces available for this program, we will be unable to extend your child’s enrollment in the program if they are causing disruptions in the class, being disrespectful and/or not following rules on the bus. Your child will receive a verbal warning on the first occasion, next they will receive a written warning to be signed by parent/guardian, and the third occasion will result in immediate expulsion. This program is designed to assist those students who want and need academic assistance.
AFTER HOURS POLICY
Once the students have been dismissed it is the guardian/parent’s responsibility to ensure that they are available to pick-up their child no later than 5:10 pm or to meet them at home once the bus drops them off. In the event that no one is available to pick the child up by 5:10 your child will be placed on the school bus and dropped off at the address listed on the photo release form. In the event that no one is at the address when the child is delivered your child will be dropped automatically from the program.
