Student grades are based upon:
30% - Test/Quizzes
30% - Classwork/Assignments
20% - Notebook
10% - District Trimester Assessment
10% - Class Preparation and Participation
Test/Quizzes:
Quizzes will be given on a regular basis. Test will be given at the end of each cycle. Both tests and quizzes will be announced.
If a quiz is missed and not made up, then a zero will be averaged in for the grade.
Classwork/Assignments: Because math is sequential and can be mastered only through practice, it is important that all assignments be completed. Credit for assignments out of the textbook is all or nothing. In order to receive credit, the proper heading must be displayed, every problem must be attempted, and all work must be shown and sincere. Answers shown without work will not receive any credit. The work done during the actual class period is very important. Work missed because of absences will have to be made up in order to receive credit for this portion of your grade. It is the responsibility of each student to obtain and make up any missed work.
Math Binder:
Each student is required to keep a separate three-ring binder notebook (minimum 2”), with 5 dividers, for math class. This notebook is an integral part of this course and future math courses. The notebook will contribute greatly to your success. You will be given a rubric on how your notebook will be graded and how it should be organized.
Class Preparation and Participation:
Participating in class includes coming to class prepared. You are expected to bring to class your textbook, agenda/planner, math binder, pencil, calculator and any other materials the instructor requires.
Calculator:
Each student is required to have a calculator. If you presently own a calculator, please check with your instructor to see if it is acceptable.
Algebra I, Algebra II, Advanced Algebra, Geometry and Math Applications:
CASIO FX-300MS, or similar.
Pre-Calculus and Calculus: TI-83, 84 or 89 model; no exceptions.
