Fourth grade is off to a great start in music.
The music curriculm for 4th grade is called Recorder Karate. Please click on the section for Recorder Karate to learn more about this part of the curriculum. Each child needs to purchase a recorder and a 3-ring 1" binder. Recorders are $7 and binders are available at Dollar General for $1. Order forms are available to download by clicking on the Files tab at the top of this page. Home Practice Forms can also be downloaded.
The grading rubric has been sent home in the communication and all should be returned. Deadline was August 19th. If you need another copy please feel free to download this by clicking on FILES at the top of this page. Please sign and return. I need a copy on file for every child. Thanks
Fourth grade music is concentrating on tone production, action songs, reading music notation and recorder song, Hot Cross Buns.
The skills we are focusing on are as follows:
1. watching the conductor
2. looking for patterns
3. steady beat
4. following signals
5. Sing in rounds, 2 part, 3 part.
6. Recorder, Hot Cross Buns
Monday, August 24th students had their first recorder lesson. A few students still need to purchase recorders. I have 3 or 4 used recorders available for $3, first come basis. Home Pracitce forms also went home. Students are eager to earn their 1st Karate White Belt.....for playing Hot Cross Buns.
