Let Me Introduce Myself
Texas is my home state where I graduated from Kilgore Jr. College before getting my teaching degree through the University of Texas system. I hold a lifetime teaching certificate in Texas for grades 1-8. I taught second and third grade before moving east to the beautiful state of Georgia. After obtaining my certification in PK-4 and 4-8 I decided to continue my education at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton where I received my master's degree in leadership. In addition, I have added a couple of endorsements to my certificate: Teacher Support Specialist and a Gifted endorsement.
Through my 25+ years in education I have had the great pleasure of experiencing a wide variety of educational levels from PK through eighth grade with the exception of Kindergarten and first grade. Teaching GED in the county and having non-traditional school training is something that is not taught in a college classroom but very rewarding just the same. My experiences have also allowed me to meet many extraordinary people and make so many friends.
This is my third year as a proud GATOR of Glanton. Prior to transfering here I taught over ten years as a tiger at Atkinson Elementary in Newnan.
My class is called "Howard's Heroes" because we are each a hero in our own unique way to someone if not at least to ourselves. We take PRIDE in what we do, how we do it, and know why we do them. I believe that if I don't learn something myself each day then it has been a wasted day...so far there haven't been any wasted days!
I look forward to keeping up with some new 'tech' information on the website. Please send suggestions or ideas for my webpage that would be helpful to you and/or your child. If I am able to add it to this new creation and adventure - I will do do. Your expertise in the field of websites and pages is welcome by this newbie!
Please feel free to come by the class room at your convenience after signing in at the front office. I look forward to a fun filled and light spirited year where learning is exceptional and high expectations began on day one.
