Week 8 - The Fighting Ground
We now have plenty of background information on our new unit and will begin reading the book, The Fighting Ground this week.
Here are details about the new unit:
THEME - How We Organize Ourselves
CENTRAL IDEA: The values and events that create a society, shape its future.
Points of Inquiry:
- the historical conditions that influence the formation of a country
- the importance of beliefs and ideas expressed in historical documents
- how founding beliefs affect the development of a country
To conclude this unit the students will create their own form of government complete with a bill of rights, flag, and song, among other things. They will learn more about PowerPoint in the process. It is another group activity which is important to their preparation for the Spring Exhibition.
