Constanza Lermanda

I am...

I am a student teacher in her last year of the English teaching program at University of Concepcion, Chile.

During all these years I have learnt about English speaking countries and about several education topics.  I also had the fantastic opportunity of spending the fall quarter 2008 at University of California Davis, Davis, United States. There, I was able to learn how things work.

Besides stuying in campus and living the American culture, I had the opportunity to teach the EFL English class at Burbank High School in Sacramento where I had Hmong and Mexican students, who were daughters and sons of immigrants.

At the end of my stay in Davis, I had to show all my learning through a portfolio, which includes a paper on low-anxiety environments, short essays about educational issues and  journals some lesson plans that I put in practice during the time I taught at Burbank.

Moreover, I was able to share some experiences with Corean teachers during a talk at the Extension Center of the UCD. I also was able to attend  a video-conference with another group of Chilean Student teachers who were in the same program but in Washington D.C. It was very interesting to know about their thought on Education. In addition, I attended a CATESOL Conference at San Jose State University (San Jose) and I attended other talks offered by the Extension Center about some aids or ideas that could help teachers to do a better job.

If you want to know more about anything or have any question, please e-mail me.
