Classroom Procedures

PROCEDURES- MRS. MCWRIGHT

Homework

    1. All homework is due before tardy bell.
    2. Homework up to 3 minutes past tardy bell will be deducted 10 points after first warning
    3. All homework must be given to the teacher (me).
    4. If I’m not present place on the overhead, except if there is a substitute teacher. Keep homework until I return.
    5. If you do not have homework please complete a no homework form. This form will be written by the student using the following format.

Example:  Oops I forgot my homework

            Name ___ Date ___ Block___

            Subject

            Assignment

            Reason

            I sign this form with the understanding that I will receive  a zero

                              For the above assignment.

           When Absent(Classroom minutes)

  1.  
    1. Sign classroom minutes sheet located in the homework/absent binder.
    2. Fill out all information: date(s) when absent, all assignments missed, due date. Use the proper form.
    3. I will sign to confirm assignment. If  copies of  an assignment aren’t available please not on classroom minute sheet.

Lab Stations/Groups

    1. No talking outside of group (will count against lab safety grade)
    2. Each group has 3 colored cups

-          red on top means you can not complete anything because you are lost, need help immediately

-          yellow on top means group is working slowly, cautiously, but could use some help

-          green on top, complete understanding, everything running smoothly

-          I will monitor all lab groups at all times regardless of status.

  1. Notebook Organization
    1. see course outline
    2. Notes must be dated and in chronological order.
    3. Individual units should be separated.
    4. Handouts should be in unit or topic covered.
    5. Notebooks will be graded and count as a test grade.

Note- taking /Study Skills

    1. Use your learning styles inventory survey results located in section one of your notebook.
    2. Study at least 10 – 15 minutes daily more if needed.
    3. If you are not having success using regular note taking techniques, you will be required to use the 2 column method.
    4. Do not pack your notebook or any assignment until told to do so.
  1. Bell Assignments/ Agenda
    1. Copy daily in bell assignment section of notebook.
    2. Question must be fully answered and complete agenda written.
  2. Headings ( Assignments)
    1. All assignments to be turned in should include date assigned, first and last name, and name of assignment. ( ex page 10 questions 1-5)
  3. Current Events
    1. Will be due every two weeks, unless notified otherwise.
    2. Topics must be on science ( biology or chemistry) can’t use weather topic
    3. Must be current within 2 weeks of due date unless monthly magazine.
    4. An original copy of the article in its entirety must be included with date in original form. (ex. You can’t cut and paste article parts or dates) It can’t be the date the article was printed. Do not tape, cut, or clue date to article.
    5. No date will result in 30 points or more deduction.( If article is considerable old it will not be accepted) Since I can’t recognize age of most articles, no date may result in a zero.
    6. You must write a paragraph summary and a paragraph opinion. Each a minimum of five sentences (# sentences).
    7. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
    8. Since you are given 2 weeks to complete current events; the due date is your late date. They will not be accepted after this date.
    9. Each due date 3 students will present findings. All will be required to present.
  4. Grades
    1. One daily drop grade will be given for every student who completes all homework assignments for the current unit.
    2. All work must be turned in on due date. You will be granted one freebee at my discretion.(Please talk to me to receive.)
    3. You will receive progress reports every 2 weeks. They must be signed by parent or guardian and returned.
  5. Hall Passes
    1. Students will not be allowed to leave class the first and last 20 minutes of class.
    2. Only emergency passes will be written.
    3. You will be granted one free pass for the semester. (Teachers discretion)
    4. You must use the restroom and get water before class begins.
  6. End of Class
    1. Work until the bell unless otherwise stated by teacher.
    2. Clean your area.
    3. The teacher will dismiss class not the bell.
    4. All students must remain in assign seats unless given permission to change.

You are responsible for all make-up work. You must ask. Handbook procedures will be followed. These procedures may be altered as the semester pass.
