Do the work and the grade will take care of itself. I do not "give" grades, they are earned by the amount of effort given on the part of the student.
During the year the grades will consist of writing several major essays; spelling/vocabular/grammar tests; daily warm-ups; novel study notebooks; and district assessments.
Grading Scale: A 90-100%, B 80-89%, C 70-79%, D 60-69%. Parents and Guardians may log onto the HAC site to view grades and student progress.
Make-up work will be in the designated period folder with your name and date on the work. It is YOUR responsibility to go your folder and get your work, complete it and return it to your designated work bin. You may, at any time, visit the website for handouts and assignments. The website will be updated by 7:00 p.m. daily.
We will follow the MISD policy for late work. If assignments are turned in the day after they are due, the maximum grade awared with be a 70%. After that, a daily deduction of 10 points will be made.
When the student does not have the assignment that is due, he/she will fill out a "Student Responsibility Card" explaining why they do not have the assignment, sign and date it and hand it back to me for filing. The student will still be responsible for completing the assignment.
