Expectations:         Students are expected to follow all school and classroom rules at all times.  They are to come to class prepared.  Students need to have their math textbook, math workbook, math spiral notebook, and sharpened pencils.  The students will be instructed when other materials (protractors, etc.) are required.

Numbers are expected to be written neatly and legibly so that they are easily identifiable.  If lines need to be drawn, a ruler must be used.

Notebooks are expected to organized and kept up-to-date.  In order to help ensure that students are doing this, notebook quizzes may be given at any time with no notice.

Homework:          Math homework is usually assigned nightly and is to be completed in pencil.  Specific directions will be given.  Credit will be given for the completion of the assignment, not necessarily the correctness of the work.  No credit will be given for late homework, and incomplete homework will only be given credit if the student had difficulties with a few problems. The students receive 100 point per trimester for homework.  Each time a homework assignment is missed or incomplete, five points will be deducted.

Parent Signature:         A parent signature may be required on select things.  This is considered a homework assignment.  Any discipline forms or infractions must be signed and returned to school the next day.

Progress Reports Grades:         Progress reports will be based on exams, test scores, quiz scores, homework, class work, and class participation.  Work will be sent home but you can also check your child’s score via Powerschool.

Absenteeism:         If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to acquire their missed work regardless of the reason.  Any missed tests due to an absence must be taken as soon as possible

If at any time you have concerns regarding math, please contact me via e-mail.  Please be sure to put your child’s name in the subject are.  I will make every effort to get back to you as soon as possible but keep in mind there are days, when due to scheduling, I may not be able to respond immediately.

Literature:      Students are required to obtain accelerated reader points.  In all three trimesters, 18 points are required.  These points carry the weight of a major test.  In addition to the novels we will cover this year, stories are read from the literature text.  After each story is read, time is spent discussing the selection and answering questions about the story as well as working on various skills.  This work is then followed by a quiz.  All work from the literature text will be completed during class.  These texts are not to be taken home by any student.  Homework is usually assigned nightly and may only be to study or read for at least 15 minutes.
