Spy Letters
Spy Letter Project
Your first project for the Nine weeks will be the Spy Letters. We are
currently studying the major battles of the American Revolution and the outcome.
Spies played a tremendous role on both sides and directly affected the outcome.
For this project I will expect you to place yourself amongst the warring rebels
of
and write a letter of choice in espionage. Letters were written back and forth
to communicate and spread information that was vital to the war. Your choice of
Espionage letter is vital to successfully communicating through enemy lines. Projects
will be graded on the following criteria:
1. Choice of Espionage
letter. Choose from the following:
·
Invisible
Ink: Use
one of the following mixtures to make your own Invisible Ink:
·
lemon, grapefruit or orange juice
·
milk
·
sugar or salt water (teaspoon in a cup of water)
·
white vinegar
Use
any kind of heavy white writing paper, paper with lines is best kind. Dip
a clean pen (not a ball-point) or any instrument with a smooth point, like a
toothpick, into the ink. As you write the words will disappear, so hold
your finger at the end of the last word to mark your place. When it’s
dry, hold the paper over a bright electric light or a heated pop-up toaster.
- Secret Code: Use one of following
concepts for secret code: Numbers for letters, letters rearranged, and numbers
that represent page numbers, paragraphs, and sentences from a popular
book.
- Mask Letter: Write
a secret letter in a letter by using a template for the middle. When the
template is used the letter has a total different meaning.
2. Full letter completed. Students will be
required to write one full page letter to a person of their choice.
3. Effort: Students are expected to put
time and effort into this project.
Spy Letters
will be due December 08, 2008.
